Mycroft had once told Sherlock that caring was a weakness, but now, looking at John, he finds it a weakness he doesn't mind possessing. It captures the essence of Sherlock thanks to the ironic tale about Sherlock's relationship with John. Mycroft, however, had been for some time working on a plan to bring Moriarty down with Sherlock, which included giving Moriarty this information and which they had agreed John would have to be kept out of for reasons of discretion, ("The Empty Hearse") and he here explained around that point, saying Moriarty's key-code was why he had abducted him previously and that he had offered Sherlock's life story to try and get information on it. It might not be a suitable read for everyone but those fans who love John and want to know more about his life are going to enjoy the complex story. It's a fun read, especially for fans who know the heroes of both fandoms well.
